Kaifeng Qi’s Town Relics, Qicheng Yizhi

Qi’s Town Relics (Qicheng Yizhi) is located in Puyang, Henan province. The place was an historical ancient site in 626 BC-531 BC. At that time, many people from different small countries gathered to discuss political affairs. The site is 7.5 high and 16 meters wide.

Kaifeng Kaifeng Mansion, Kaifeng Fu

The Former Kaifeng Hall was the court both for administration and judicature of the capital city of the Song Dynasty, and always taken as the biggest one in China then. According to the local gazetteer, there were 183 Kaifeng mayors totally,and Lord Bao was regarded as one of the best. The reconstructedKaifeng City Hall covers an area of 10 avres,consisting of 50 buildings as Major Hal,Plum Hall, a Taoist Temple,the Court of Consciousness,the pavilion of purity, the House of Martial Arts and the Prison Wards. All the complex is divided into 9 zones, where various performances and shows are offered.

Kaifeng The Guild Hall Of Shanxi, Shaanxi And Gansu, Shanxiagan Huiguan

The Ancient Guild Hall of Three Western  Chinese Provinces: Shanxi, Shaanxi and Gansu was built in 1776, the 41st year of the reign of Emporer Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty sponsored by rich businessmen from Shanxi, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, who were living in Kaifeng. The Hall functioned as the gathering center for them. The major structure left today are the Memorial Hall to Lord Guan, drum and bell towers, archway and subordinate buildings on both sides, where people can admire vividly carved bricks, stones and wood, depicting Buddhist stories. They are of high artistic value even today.

Kaifeng the Tianbo Hall for The Marshal Yang, Tianbo Yangfu

According to the historical record, Marshal Yang’s Mansion was the house of Yangye, who was the famous general fighting against Liao evasion, and it was named for its location at the riverside of Jinshui to Tiaobo Gate in the northwest of the Capital. In order to show respects to all the Yang family’s loyal achievements to the empire, Emperor  Taizong of Song Dynasty once ordered all officials must be off wagons or horses and walk on foot when passing by this Mansion. After Yangyie death, the Hall was renamed as Xiaoyan Temple as Yang’s family shrine. The temple was ruined completely in the anti-Japanese war after many times destruction. The main building of the Hall is the Center Court. The West court is an elegant garden consisting of pavilions, rockery and brooks. The East Court is the field for Yang’s army exercise,consisting of Order Platform, General Flag and stable. The General Yang’s Mansion is balanced laid out and is grand and full of dignified atmosphere.

Kaifeng Ancestral Hall of Lord Bao, Baogong Ci

The Memorial Hall to Lord Bao, a famous up righted offical in ancient China, is located along  the lakeside of Lord Bao in southwestern Kaifeng. Lord Bao once held position in Kaifeng in Northern Song Dynesty. He was widely praised as honest and up right. The temple consists of the Main Hall, the Second Hall, the Eastern and Western Halls, Banbi Corridor and the Stele Pavilion, which presents the solemn and classical atmosphere of a traditional Chinese official courtyard.

Kaifeng Dragon Pavilion Scenic Area, Longting Fengjingqu

Found to the northwest of the city, the Dragon Pavilion is a palatial hall built on a thirteen-meters-high marble terrace. During the Song and Jin dynasties, this was the site of imperial palaces. Inside the pavilion enshrined the emperor’s tablets. Two dragons playing with a pearl are carved on a plaque on the pavilion, hence the name “Dragon Pavilion”. It became an important place for local and official ceremonies and festivities. Another hall was added during the reign of Qing Yongzheng. The great hall features traditional Chinese temple architectural style on a marble terrace. Stone tablets exhibited in the hall bear Chinese calligraphic inscriptions. Wax figures and portraits of Song emperors are also on display. A five minute walk from the wall will bring you to Wuchao Gate, the site of the imperial palace of the Song Dynasty.

Kaifeng The King Yu’s Terrace, Yuwang Tai

Legend has it that in the Spring and Autumn period(770-476 B.C.), a blind musician named Shi Kuang often played his musical instrument here,hence  its name the “Playing Terrace”.In 744, the third year of the regin of Emperor Tianbao of the Tang Dynasty, great Chinese poets, including Li Bai,Du Fu and Gao Shi,gathered here ,where they drank wine and left behind oft-quoted, widely-loved poems. In 1522,the second year of the reign of Emperor Jiajiang of the Ming Dynasty ,a temple was erected on the terrance to commemorate the remarkable achievements of Yu the Great. Today, the Temple Fairs of Yu the Great of Dongjing, held here every April,draws people from afar.

Kaifeng Fan Pagoda, Fan Ta

The Po Pagoda erected in 977 during the Northern Song Dynasty,standing on the ancient Po Terrace in southeastern Kaifeng, is the oldest structure in the city. It was once a hexagonal nine-story,80-meter-high Buddha pagoda in the Song Dynasty. But only three stories were left by the Ming Dynesty. However,later generations reconstructed it into the present six-story pagoda with a curious and strange style in the history of buddhist architecture.
