Ningbo Drum Tower

The drum tower is the only remaining relic of ancient city in Ningbo City. It is also one of the ancient architectures under the preservation of the country.

Overlooking from the top, visitors can see the whole scenery of Ningbo. The tower was built in Tangzhangqing year (Year 821) and the drum tower has 1,100 years of history to date. It is the symbol of the city and the official home state in Ningbo. Now, the drum tower and the Park Road nearby has become a major assembling location for cultural activities in Ningbo.

The building fully reflects the characteristics of Jiangnan region of rivers and lakes in Ningbo. On both sides of the road are shops that following the traditional architectural style which not only possessed the style of traditional Commercial Street in Ningbo, but also has strong historical and cultural sense.

Ningbo Putuo Mountain, Putuo Shan

Putuo Mountain is one of the four big famous mountains in China. The scenic area includes Putuo, Luo Jia Mountain, Zhu Jiajian, Putuo Main Island of 12.5 square kilometers area and the highest peak with an elevation of 292 meters. It possessed long glorious Buddhism culture and was known as “Haitian Buddha Nation” and “the quietest boundary in the world” in ancient. The three big temples of Puji Temple (front temple), the Fayu Temple (rear temple) and Huiji Temple are the typical complex architectural model built during the end of the Ming dynasty.

Ningbo Xuedou Hill, Xuedou Shan

Xuedou Hill is located northwest of Fenghua City in Zhejiang Province. It is the highest peak of Siming Mountain with an altitude of 800 meters. It has the reputation of “the first mountain of Siming mountain”.

The scenic areas include three parts namely Kou Town, Xuedou Hill and Tingxia Lake. Xuedou Hill District is a famous scenic spot because it is the native place of modern historical figure of Jiang Jieshi.

In addition, the scenery here is very beautiful. It is famous both domestic and abroad and has become a hot national tourists attraction spot.

Ningbo Tall Rock Waterfalls and Best High Platform, Qianzhangyan Pubu, Miaogao Tai

Tall rock waterfalls are situated in front of Xuedou temple. The height of the waterfall is 186 meters. There is one interesting fact; the springs flowing through Guanshan Bridge forms a thin and strong flying waterfalls from the top of the rock down to the bottom and the water sprouts metamorphoses into rainbow.

Standing on the high rock and overlooking into the distance, it makes ones mood cheerful and reaching new boundaries. The Best High Platform is situated 500 meters in the west of Tall rock waterfalls.

There is platform for ascending the top and is an excellent location to overlook the far distance. Jiang Jieshi personally wrote “the best high platform” and it has become the hallmark.

It was said that in the Best High Platform, there are “three strange things”.

First, the climate is unpredictable; there is often cloud and wind, the winter is always warm and the summer cool. Second, the rock is strange and there is a piece of “sitting stone of Yan” on the platform. It was said that Jiang Jieshi must sit on the stone all the time. Third, the construction is unique where the Dagoba and Jiang Jieshi and Song Meiling’s former villa are still preserved in the Best High Platform.

Ningbo Shen Garden, Shen Yuan

Shen Garden (Shen Yuan) is located in the southeast of Yanghenong in Shaoxing city. It was said that the old Shenyuan is many times bigger than the current Shenyuan.

It was built by a gentleman named Mr. Shen, hence the name. After the Song Dynasty, the park was out of use with the remainder of only one corner. In1984, it was rebuilt according to the picture of “Shen Yuan”.

The reconstruction covers a total area of 7,865 square meters. Dayu Tomb is located within Shaoxing City and it is a national key cultural relic protection unit.

Ningbo Sanduyiping Rock, Sanduyiping Shan

The Sanduyiping Rock scenic area is located 9 kilometers southeast of Dongyang City, Zhejiang. The area is 10.7 square kilometers. The scenic area is made up of four scenic spots namely Sandu Sacred Place, Pingyan Cave, Lan Pavilion and Guanding Temple.

The characteristics of this area comprised of its beautiful peaks, strange rocks, quiet vale and deep ponds. The peaks gathered together, the forests are serene and quiet and the sceneries are beautiful beyond words. This scenic area has a long history and was a tourist spot since 618a.d.
