Xuzhou plays a very important role during Ancient China. In the 573 BC, there was a great war between the Jin and Chu. It’s said that the war lasted for 8 month and 13 countries were involved in the war. The Jiuli Mountain Ancient battlefield site witnessed the Dynasty rebirth and the great changes of the City.

Huaihai Campaign Memorial Hall was completed and opened to the public in 1965, the label of which was autographed by Marshal Chen Yi. Its exhibition area covers 2,800 square meters and divided into 5 parts; the Front Hall, the prelude to the Campaign, Campaign Performance, People’s Support and Memory of Martyrs. On show are more than 2000 pieces of culture relics, pictures, art work, etc.

Emperor Chu’s Tomb on Lion Mountain is located in Xuzhou city. The tomb belongs to King Liucheng who reigned over Xuzhou during his life. It is very spacious and often gives an extraordinary impression. There are about 2,000 works of art made of gold, silver and jade located her, along with some rare art that was first discovered in similar large scale tombs. These discoveries can help scientists study ancient Chinese characters. The whole area covers 245.5 square meters.

This is a group of Han-style buildings located in the ancient battle field of Jiuli Hill. They occupy an area of 160,000 square meters. More than ten performances such as “Grand Ceremony at Han Town” and “King Mustering Troops” are shown every day at regular hours, demonstrating the impressive and dignified manner of the grand battle field scenes of strong cavalry and marching troops.

Xuzhou Museum is situated on the north slope of Yunlong Hill and covers an area of 12,000 square meters. It is a beautiful scenic spot in the city. The museum sits in the original site of the temporary imperial palace of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1736 to 1795). Lots of exquisite cultural relics of the Han Dynasty are exhibited in Xuzhou Museum. Among which, the most valuable are the jade clothes interwoven with silver threads, the gild beast ink stone and the copper bull lamp.

Playing Horse Estrade is one of the oldest cultures in Xuzhou city. It’s said that the Estrade was built in 206 BC by a great hero, Xiang Yu during Ancient China. This Estrade was built for watching the taming horses at that time.

Tourists who come to Xuzhou should not miss the very important scenic spot known as Cloud Dragon Hill. The Hill ranges rise and fall like a moving dragon. On the eastern side of Cloud Dragon Hill is a 10-meter-high stone carving of the half-length portrait of Sakyamuni created in the North Wei Dynasty.
The Hill is verdant and luxuriant with big pines and cypresses providing shade from the sun, and is dotted with terraces and pavilions in between the hills. Su Shi, the famous poet in the Song Dynasty once wrote about the splendid scenery of Cloud Dragon Hill in his On Fanghe Pavilion (the Pavilion where cranes were set free). When spring turns into summer, green grass and trees stretch into the far horizon; while in autumn and snowy winter, whiteness covers everything.
“On the hill top wet and windy, dark and bright I overlook the constant change”, Su Shi wrote. There are many tourist attractions on the top of Cloud Dragon Hill, such as Fanghe Pavilion, Stone Bed of Su shi, Xinghua Temple, Kwan-yin Rock, Woniu Fountain, Yunlong Academy, and Sight-seeing Platform.

The Cloud Dragon Lake is situated in Xuzhou City of Jiangsu Province. It adjoins Hanshan Hill in the west and borders Yunlong Mountain in the east. The lake covers an area of 5.8 square kilometers, with a road built in the middle, which is like a jade strip cutting the lake into the eastern and western parts.

The lake is surrounded by green hills. Along the green lake bank, one can see extraordinary splendor throughout all of the four seasons: peach flowers and willows in the spring; red pomegranate in the summer; maple trees in the autumn; and plum blossom against white snow in the winter.

The Cloud Dragon Lake area includes various scenic spots such as the Aquatic World, Lakeside Park, the Ten-thousand-person Swimming Pool, Lotus Isles, Apricot Flowers Garden, Bonsai Garden and Jinshan Pagoda. Lakeside Park is like a green corridor providing shade for the residents nearby. Skillfully combination of motion and stillness; natural and artificial craft; green garden and European style architecture, offers artistic taste as well as exotic flavor. Situated on the island in the center of the lake is the Aquatic World with its modern building shaped like a whale diving. Tourists can see more than 150 rare species of fishes from 35 countries and districts here.

Xuzhou is the distributing center of the Han stone-painting in China. Xuzhou Han Stone-painting Art Museum is a special museum for displaying and collecting the Han Stone-paintings. It covers an area of 10000 square meters with 350 pieces of Han stone-paintings collected in it. It first opened in 1st October 1989.
