Fuzhou Daxiong Palace, Daxiong Baodian
The Daxiong Palace is located in Xichan temple at Yi Mountain of west Fuzhou. The distance from the city centre is approximately 1.5 kilometers. Daxiong Palace is the core of the temple.
There are three Sakymuni statues in the middle of the palace and was known as the “three lives Buddha”. They denoted the past, present and future Buddha. They were molded during the Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644). The Buddha’s statue was very exquisite and was wrapped with Tang Dynasty dress and looked refulgence.
There are also two copper immortal children in the palace with the height of 1 meter. Their head was pricked with two knots, with two dimples on the cheek, one hand holding immortal peach and the other holding water lily, both of them looked innocent.
They are the masterpiece of the patina art at the beginning of the century in Fuzhou. Behind the “3 aged Buddha” are three saints statue which were cast during the Qing Kangxi year in 1820 A.D with gilded appearance. Each one weights 1,650 kilograms.
These three saints statue’s shape is so concinnity and the work is so fine, reflecting the lofty foundry of crafts and arts at that time. In front of the three saints statue is a credence made of wood and iron wire. It was reputed that the credence won’t catch fire, will never rot and will not get damp even when the weather is cloudy.
