Kaifeng The King Yu’s Terrace, Yuwang Tai
Legend has it that in the Spring and Autumn period(770-476 B.C.), a blind musician named Shi Kuang often played his musical instrument here,hence its name the “Playing Terrace”.In 744, the third year of the regin of Emperor Tianbao of the Tang Dynasty, great Chinese poets, including Li Bai,Du Fu and Gao Shi,gathered here ,where they drank wine and left behind oft-quoted, widely-loved poems. In 1522,the second year of the reign of Emperor Jiajiang of the Ming Dynasty ,a temple was erected on the terrance to commemorate the remarkable achievements of Yu the Great. Today, the Temple Fairs of Yu the Great of Dongjing, held here every April,draws people from afar.
