Nanjing Zhenghe’s Grave, Zhenghe Mu
Zhenghe is a Chinese navigator and diplomat during the Ming Dynasty (1371–1433 AD). Zhenghe’s Grave is located at south foothill of Niushou Mountain, Jiangning County of Nanjing. It is situated on a secluded small hillside which is serene, quiet and with beautiful scenery. His grave was once destroyed in the past. But it was rebuilt in 1985.
According to the Islamic funeral customs, the lid of the grave was made of stone, engraved with lotus flowers and Arabic words. In front of the grave were 28 stairs of seven levels, symbolizing traveling seven times to the western, sailing repeated for 28 years.
