Shanghai Sun Yatsen’s Former Residence, Sun Zhongshan Guju

Sun Yatsen’s Former Residence is located south of Shanghai’s Huaihai road, on the fragrant mountain road, where a small European foreign style village house stood. It was residence for China democratic revolution forerunner, Sun Yatsen and Madame Song Qingling from 1918 to 1925 in Shanghai. After the Sino-Japanese War, Song Qingling gave the residence to the national government as a gift in commemoration of Sun Yatsen’s permanent residence. Majority was Sun Yat-Sen and Song Qingling’s original design and arrangement. First floor is the living room and dining room, whereas upstairs is the studio, bedroom and a small living room. There is a rectangular balcony in front of the studio and bedroom, with a garage nearby. In front of the building is a stretch of lawn, the Chinese ilex, fragrant trees flowers and plants, camphor tree and Yulan magnolia were all around the place.
